Default Adding fog lamps

Gents; I keep my 2007 Sonata stock but do like to add factory type upgrades here and there. A skull gear shift, dark tinted windows or monster tires with neon lighted whirling rims won't do....a bouncing Sonata is not on my wish list. I did however, add the factory spoke wheels and got rid of the plastic hubcaps. I also installed an old school Pioneer radio with a small sub woofer.....Lawrence Welk's McGuire sisters sound great! Additionally, I added factory switches that control the radio to the left side of the steering wheel...not as hard to do as I thought. Getting to the subject topic....today I saw some fog lights for sale complete with the wiring harness. My question is, have any of you gents added fog lights to your auto? If so where do you splice in the wiring harness. If anyone has fog lights already installed from the factory....how do you turn them on.... Is there a separate switch? One last thing, in place of the fog lamps my auto has covers in the holes. Will the fog lamps fit into those covered holes? I know I'm asking a lot but maybe someone can get me on the right track....Hanky?

Hi Dave,
If it were me , I would get the lamps from the dealer. That way you know they will go right in.
I tried installing a set of LED lamps to use as fog lamps and daytime running lamps. A trooper stopped me and said if the vehicle did not come with those lamps and they were supposed to work with only the hi beam and they were supposed to be DOT compliant. He even wanted to know the state inspection facility that passed my vehicle.
To prevent any further problem I don' use them anymore. Go figure.

Interesting Hanky. Although, I feel for policeman who deal daily with some serious knot heads, shame on the policeman r lady who focused on you for having your fog lights on! I agree the lights should be purchased from the dealer but that would be big bucks. I'm looking at a replacement for damaged or non working fog lamps that fit into the existing slots that are covered from the factory on my car. I found out the fog switch is on the turn signal handle but don't want to deal with installing a new one and dealing with the complicated wiring. I can however add a stock rocker switch into a blank portion of my existing switch panel. Don't know if I'm going to tackle this yet but I think I can do it all for 60 bucks r maybe a bit more. Thanks for your input.

Well; I went ahead and bought the lamps from Amazon. They had a price reduction so I could not refuse. The kit is a Chinese knock off but has surprisingly good reviews.....the Chinese put rockets in space and make jet planes so their products can't be all bad. One of the reviews stated the kit is very complete. The harness comes with a dash switch, fuses, relay and even has plastic wire loom material wrapped around the wires. Lets face it, many car parts even from major car companies are made in China. Of course, I will know more when I get the kit and will post my opinion along some pictures. Best regards.

As

I added the fog lights....finally. They almost look, pedestrian and don't stand out which is just the way I like it. The only way to do it is to take off the front bumper. The white spot is a small crack I had in the bumper for years. Was finally able to address the crack from the back with some JB Weld....can't beat JB Weld! The lights fit perfectly. The switch and wiring was just a tad on the light side but heavy enough that I'm not worried about it. As you can tell the switch is aftermarket but looks OK. I like how the switch light comes on when u turn it on..... a good reminder. The proper way to wire the light is thru the high beam switch.....Hanky found that out the hard way. I, however, just wired it to the accessory wiring so the fog lights will only come on when the key is on....good enough in my book. Anyway, hope one of u gents can use this bit of info. Thanks gents
