alternator belt

Just wondering if the alternator belt on my 04 sonata is the same belt or associated with a pulley that the timing belt is on. Today my rig wouldn't start because of a dead battery. So I dont know if it was my alternator going bad or just a dead battery and I am worried that if it was the alternator, it may seize and cause the belt its on to break or loosen. My S10's alternator seized but the belt was still moving due to the engine running. The friction of the belt moving on the seized alternator pulley caused it to break. Since the 4.3 chevy wasnt an interference engine, it was fine. However, I just dont want this to happen to my interference engine of my sonata.

Second; how do you get the head light lenses off so I can polish the inside?

thanks

Doesn't matter..... the answer is NO.

Why do you want to polish the inside of the headlight lenses? Is it because of yellowing or something? I think you will find that any clouding or yellowing is happening on the outside mainly due to oxidation. The headlights are sealed and the only way I've heard of opening them up is putting them in an oven to heat up the sealant allowing the lense to be separated from the backing.

I would not want to try to do this so if I were you I would make very sure that what you are trying to achieve can't be done from the outside before trying to open up the headlights.

its the v6 engine. Yes, the head lights are getting all cloudy and not shining like they use to. I figured it was condensation or oxidation on the inside of them.
