Default bluetooth without bluelink?

I have been looking, but can't figure this out- we have bluelink service free for a few months () now I have my phone paired to the Sonata using bluetooth- does this only work when using the bluelink service, or is it just a simple bluetooth device that can be used on it's own, with no actual other services? sorry if I sound dumb, but it's all new to me.....

BlueLink is basically just like GM's OnStar. Bluetooth is a feature of the car and does not require BlueLink to work. You will still be able to use your phone without having BlueLink.
