cabin filter replacement instructions
Hi
I have a 2002 hyundai sonata that smells like spoiled meat when the blower is turned on-my mechanic thinks a mouse or something got into the system (the windows were left open) and died-it has been 100 degrees for an extended period of time-hopefully a cabin filter replacement may do the trick and some free-breeze. I would like some step by step instructions-on how to get at it to replace. Thanks in advance for the instructions. |
A cabin air filter isn't going to fix your problem but here's how to install one:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DESCRIPTION: This bulletin describes the steps necessary to add or replace the cabin air filter for the XG, Sonata and Santa Fe vehicles (see table below for application and part numbers). The cabin air filter is a replaceable paper element filter that removes particulates such as dust from the air. The cabin air filter for these vehicles is located in a slot between the blower motor and the air conditioning evaporator. It is accessed by removing the glove box and glove boxhousing. The typical service interval is 12,000 miles or 1 year, whichever occurs first. More frequent maintenance may be required in very dusty environments which may clog the filter. A major benefit of the filter (if installed) is that it reduces the possibility that mold and mildew may accumulate on the evaporator. Particulate debris becomes trapped in the replaceable filter and is removed from the system during routine maintenance. Unwanted odors may also be remedied by replacing the air filter. NOTE Replacement of the cabin air filter is considered a maintenance item and not covered under warranty. REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:
For XG and Sonata produced after 3/29/03, skip to page 6.
