Crankshaft position sensor
Hey all newb here. I have a 02 sonata with the 2.4 in it. Have had the car since new and its been a great car. Now it will only run for a couple of minutes then shuts off. Anyway I plug the code reader in and comes up po335 crankshaft position sensor. Where is the sensor located?

RE: Crankshaft position sensor
Thanks. I was able to find its location at the hyundai tech site. Let me tell you it is a pain in the a$$ to get to. Had to remove power steering pump, crank pully and alt pully just to get to the bolts for the lower cover. Also had to remove the timing belt to get the sensor out. There is just no room to work on it. took me 3 hrs just to get it out.[:@]

Hyundai Sonata 2000
I had my car checked and the computer said it was the crankshaft censor that was going bad. I just changed the censor, the car started before I changed it, but now it turns over and acts as if it has no spark. PLEASE ANY ADVISE FROM ANYONE WOULD BE GREAT!!!

Sometimes the old gasket gets stuck in the hole when you pull the old sensor. If the old gasket remains in the hole, and you put a new gasket in, it makes too much clearance and the magnetic pickup won't get a signal. Other than that, maybe the new one is DOA, which happened to a guy last month. If all else fails, put the old one back in and test it.

Keeping Hyundai Afloat by Purchasing Camshaft Position Sensors
Hi All,
I am searching for ideas, ordered the 4th camshaft position sensor in the last year from local napa parts outlet. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem, the ones I put in seem to last 3-4 months then go out. Engine dies, throws a code P340 and then either won't run or runs like crap.
Last time I replaced the coils as well thinking that would do the trick, but now luck, wife just called and she is dead at work, so planning on putting a new one in again tonight.
The longer term question is of course how long before I am doing this again? Should I just by a half-dozen instead of one?
All of this seemed to start after the car threw the timing belt and I replaced it, along with rebuilding 1/2 the engine. It seemed to run fine for about three months then just died with code P340, $80 later we were back on the road, again lasted about 3 months and croaked, and so the cycle goes on.
I am wondering if the timing is just a little bit off and could be causing these to fail prematurely, or is there a possibility we are loosing some cam bearings or something like that? Anyone experienced a similar issue? If so, some pointers would be helpful.
