Engine broke down

I have limited sonata 2.4L, year 2016 and yesterday it shows the engine check light, then turn off. Now Hyundai dealership are telling me we have to charge you $160 for inspection and will take 10 to 30 days to see what’s wrong with your car. They said we don’t have loaner car and you can have rental car. We can give you 40% discount.

Take it to a local shop, not the dealer and have them run a code checker. You can also take it to say Auto zone and they can run a scanner, to see if the code was saved in memory, and that will give you a idea of were to start..

I took it to the dealer and they asked for the maintenance record of my car, so I provided them all service record of 2 years and they are going to install new engine free of cost.

Well congradulations. Its nice to see someone get something resolved from the dealer without issues.

There is a reason our gentleman was successful and that is he had proof of the maintenance done and done at the right time.

Most folks don't realize the value of either doing or having the routine maintenance done and being able to show proof, personal records are OK,

Hopefully we have seen the value of this.

Thanks for sharing the benefits of this.

Most people think you need to service you call only at a dealer.. While that is not true, so long as you do keep records from whomever did it. I do not take mine to the dealer very often, because the usually are weeks if not months out for something simple as an oil change.
