Headlights burning out all the time

Hi all...hoping to get some input. Posted this message in the "general section" bought thought that maybe it was a Sonata-only issue.2006 Sonata. Headlights are buring out too often....I have replaced the bulbs about 3 or 4 times on the driver side and 2 or 3 times on the passenger in the last couple years and now the passenger side just burned out again. Meanwhile, I have a 92 Dodge Dakota that I have NEVER replaced headlights on.......120k miles on tha truckand I have had her since 93. I am very aware that touching the bulb glass will cause a shorter life....but this is not the case...I am very experienced with video/film light equipmnet and was taught that years ago. What is the deal? Anyone else have this experience?

Thanks folks.

It's a short someplace. Either the wires, or the wiring harness. Probably really hard to find.

Well, I thought that too....Except if it were a short in the harness before the headlights, BOTH would blow (at least you would think)......

Both lights do blow, but randomly and at entirely different times. [sm=smiley18.gif]

You might want to check the voltage output from you alternator first it may be too high.
Also if you buy your bulbs from the dealer they have a 0ne year warranty, it will not solve the problem but will save you $$$.

Get a charging system check. You might be running higher than 13 1/2 volts and it's blowing out the lights that way. It would mean the voltage regulator in the alternator is bad, and you need a new alternator.

Same problem

I figured out when I slam my hood they go out. Shut it gently.
