Default High / Low beams on NF Sonata

I’m currently driving a ’05 NF Sonata and was contemplating the replacement of the high and low beams headlight bulbs.

I understand that the factory bulbs are H1/55W and H7/55W for the high and low beams respectively.

Has anyone here tried replacing the factory 55W bulbs with that of a higher wattage?

Philips has H1/100W and H7/80W; suppose I stick such bulbs into my vehicle, will there be any side effects?

Fuse blown? Melted headlights?

How does Philips stack up against PIAA?

Many thanks.

I have not tried putting higher wattage bulbs in any headlight but I would think that it is not a good idea. If you're lucky you will just blow a fuse. If not, you may melt the headlight housings/lenses or burn wiring.

Philips is a decent brand. I do not have any personal experience with PIAA but their products seem to be overpriced to me.

Hi everyone!

I agree with you rallyman. I haven’t tried also putting higher wattage bulb in my car’s headlight. It would be nice if you use again the right wattage bulb for your headlight.
