Oil filter question

I've read the TSB about some oil filters causing engine knock, but have they identified which filters are problematic? I've always used NAPA Gold filters, and never had a problem with my '01 Elantra, which has almost 130K miles on it. I'm coming up on the first oil change for my '06 Sonata, and want to avoid problems. If OEM is the only way to go I'll have to stock up on filters. The closest dealer to me is about 75 miles away.

RE: Oil filter question

hey, just so happens im a tech at a hyundia dealership, and basically any oil filter without a anti-drain back valve could cause a knock at start up cause all the oil drains out of the filter

Check www.amsoil.com or maybe K&N makes a oil filter for your car...

RE: Oil filter question

The '06 Sonata's with the V6 have a different type of canister filter that is not yet sold on the secondary market. This is as of last week when I had my first oil change and the oil change guy said they have to order it. Oh well, I got fresh oil and the old factory filter still in play.
