P0463; Speedometer/Tach malfunction; Battery light

Hi!

First post here. Name is John and I'm sorry this has to be my first post but I'm in some trouble and was wondering if someone on here could help out.

The car in question is a 2002 Sonata 4-cyl. auto-transmission.

The speedometer and the tach come and go. Mostly, it's non-functional.

The battery light is also on. I went to Autozone and checked the battery and they said it's fine.

The CEL is on and also pulled a code and got P0463; something to do with fuel level sensor being shorted..

I believe the order of breakdown was:

Speedo/tach ----> Battery light ----> CEL light (P0463).

What could be the problem? Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

. Now you said battery was ok but most all sonata 4 cyl had the high resistance issue at alternator ring terminal connector. If you get a light and a mirror you will see on the back of the alternator under that plastic cover a ring terminal holding a wire on the alternator coming from battery. That wire melts and gets resistance issues right there. this will cause alternator not to charge. Low voltage can cause all sorts of whacky stuff. Have you had the charging system tested? Dont buy an alternator until you ck this wire. This is the same harness that causes ground issues that makes you temp gauge go high even though your car isnt overheating. Tackle the battery light and move on from there.

The alternator and the battery was checked and they said it's all fine...

I dunno what to do~

Well if battery light is also on then you have a charging issue that you might want a tech to look at. Stay away from autozone.

Sounds like a loose ground. Check battery connections and charging system first.
