Question for Hyundai Tech
Was wonderign if you knew of an online reference for installing a front wheel bearing on a 1998 sonata? Is it pressed in or bolted? Any hints on making this an easy repair?
Thanks

Pressed in bearing. Best thing you can do is go buy the bearing ( get it from a dealer please) aftermarkets suck when they give you the wrong one after its all apart. Anyway get your bearing, remove the spindle assy, easy removal.Remove caliper, remove rotor, remove lower ball joint nut (some have 2 bolts instead). Remove bolts that hold strut to spindle and remove tie rod nut.
Now when taking that tie rod off make sure to shock the side of the spindle where it goes through with a hammer it will come loose. DONT hammer on the tie rod threaded end. Anyway you have your spindle off.Take it to the dealer or some qualified shop and have them press the bearing in.It is a pain. It should only cost you 1hr labor from that point. If you bring it in and have them do the whole job it should be about 1.5 lbr plus the bearing. OOPs sorry when removing that spindle you also need a 32mm socket to remove axle nut. ( make sure I get it all ). Let us know how you came out.

i have a 97 tiburon. i was driving it and all of a sudden the transmission went out. There was no warning of slippage or anything. It only has 90,000 miles on it. Short of replacing the whole transmission, could he be something else? I don't have $1,000's of dollars to get it fixed. I can't even find one cheap enough were I could do it myself. Also the back brakes are constantly grinding.
