Sonata 2001 rough/studdering
I have a sonata, 2001, with approx. 75,000 miles
I have had a problem with one of my cylinder's misfiring, i guess it was one of the issues that came up when i had my engine light checked (for free at aammco transmissions). SO they said it could be my ECT sensor causing the misfire, so i replaced it, car still isnt running well, but running. My dad thought it might be the spark plugs, so i replaced the spark plugs, although one of the plugs WAS fouled pretty good, it still did not fix the problem. So i still thinking one of my cylinders is misfiring, in either case, ive lost about half my acceleration power and it feels like my car is like...studering or rumbling, almost like its skipping a beat or something when im driving at most speeds. Would a camshaft sensor be the problem? cause that was one of my engine light issues aside from the misfire. also maybe a fuel pump issue? i am at a loss at this point and I dont have the cash to shell out for a repair from a shop. please help! I love this car, only this problem is driving me nuts! |
What was the code that was causing the Check Engine Light?

not sure. ill have to go back and get it checked and get the code numbers.

Does your 2001 Sonata have spark plug wires or is it a coil-on-plug system? If it uses traditional spark plug wires they can often be a source of a misfire and you should check those. A good visual inspection along with testing their resistance will tell you if they are okay or not.
