sonata frame rust recal

i have a 2000 sonata gls that has rusting on the frame. after doing a little bit of research i noticed that there was a recall about this a while back.

"There's a recall that is "officially" for 2001-2004 Sonatas for the subframe. But interestingly, this recall shows up when you do a search on recalls for 1999 and 2000 Sonatas also. So I am wondering if Hyundai might honor the recall for your car?

The NHTSA recall ID is 09V124000. You can either find details at the NHTSA site or at sites like Edmunds.com (look up the 2000 Sonata in the Used Cars section, and there's a link to recalls). "

I live in ohio and should be in the salt belt that they claim is covered. Has anyone has any luck getting their frames fixed? what should i do?? Please advise.

Jeez, been active running recall running forr something like 10 month now..

Covers from job #1 in 1999 up to late 2003/early 2004 (because Hyundai not know where last old style frames was used,,, Toyota would to the last chassis)...

Sonata now been fading away, this wave been Elantra and Santa Fe.. We have a 1 1/2 pallet of Sonata frame, 4 or 6 XG, close to 17 Elantra kit, 3 Tiburon arm kit, 11 Santa Fe arm kit (early), couple Elantra and Tiburon frames..

Take the car to dealer and leave it for couple days,,, we do ours first thing in the morning, usually provvide same day service, we do our sprays toward end of day in batch, reduce fog in shop..

Reach under with hammer and beat an obvious hole if you want, been running 90% frame replacement here, with 1999-2001 at 100% replacement, it's pretty well given I can poke a hole in it somewhere.

should they cover a rental car while the vehicke is in for repairs?

Hyundai does not cover rental expenses... they is just giving you a new free frame.. and just a frame.

I've got a 2000 Sonata GLS (Manufactured in 1999 - August or November - I'd check but it's like 4am and I'm about to go to bed).. I noticed some rusting on the subframe but I'm out of warranty now. I purchased this car used from a dealer in VA (the car was originally purchased in Maryland I belive) - currently registered in VA.

Would I be covered by this recall?

Yes, you should still be covered.
