My '09 Sonata is in the shop for a starter replacement (I think). Don't know yet if it is the cheap or expensive one. Has anyone ever had their starter rebuilt rather than replaced? Seems like it might be worth it, especially if it is the 400 dollar one.

BTW, it is the 4 cylinder 5 speed.

 

Like a lot of things, a remanufactured starter is better than a rebuilt starter.
However, if you have a good rebuilder locally, if there is any problem with the starter it is much easier to handle any problems and it is good for them to know you for any future work you might need up the road.
