Trailer Towing
Does anyone know if the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is suitable for trailer towing? I would like to install a Class I hitch on my Limited. I would never tow more than 1500 lbs. The Owners' Manual provides in at least 3 places the following warning: " We do not recommend using this vehicle for trailer towing."
But in paragraph 1.5 the following statement is provided: "Don't tow a trailer during the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km) of operation". Does this mean trailer towing is permissable after all?
There are several hitch manufacturers that provide hitches for this car. Some of them recommend an insulation shield be trimmed during the installation. Another manufacturer recommends the shield be removed altogether. Could the alteration or removal of this part present a hazard?
