Where can I get another key made for my 03 Sonata?
 

I need another ignition key made for my 03 Sonata. We got a used transmission put in that seems to be working good so I've got a few maintenance items to work on but I only have 1 key. I notice the doors lock when you close them so I don't want to end up locking the only key in there. My friend has the same year and says his does it too. It has the factory security alarm, seems like most of them do. I don't know if only the Hyundai dealer can make a new key or can any place that makes keys do it? I don't need another key remote, just another key that I'll be able to get in the car with and use on the ignition.

A good hardware store will be able to make a key for you. I got my keys made at an Ace Hardware location. They may need the car there for programming.

Not knowing what market you are in, can not tell you if the key has a chip in it
Does your car have an immobilizer?

If you do then you should go to a professional lock smith or go to the Hyundai dealer

The Ace Hardware was able to make a key for me. I bought 2 just to have an extra. I checked it and it started the engine, locked/unlocked the doors, and the trunk. Only got one key remote but now have 3 keys.
