Fuel Problem
Hi all. For some reason my diesel Terracan doesn't start in the mornings. However, if I hand pump the inline rubber fuel pump it starts first go. Any thoughts on fixing the problem please?

From what you describe , it sounds like the fuel is leaking back into the tank instead of staying in the fuel line to the engine. There should be a check valve in the system to prevent that. I will need to check to see if I can determine just where it might be located and what would be required to confirm the suspicion.

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

Can you provide the year and engine size ? I know you said diesel , but don't know if there is only one size engine used.
Thanks. |
It's a 2006 Terracan diesel with a 2.9 motor.

If you are planning on replacing the check valve yourself, where are you planning on purchasing it?
The reason I ask is, not sure where it is located. If you purchase one from a Hyundai dealer, now you know what it looks like and can find it on the fuel line to the engine, and replace it. Would this work for you? The info I have come across is not that great as far as showing the location. We know what the problem is , but the check valve could be part of the fuel filter on the diesel or just be in the line to the fuel pump. Sorry I can't be more helpful. |
