01 tiburon code p0501 speedometer
 

About a week ago I was driving 01 tiburon when speedometer crapped out and shortly after, CEL came on. When I got home, without speedometer, I scanned and pulled code p0501. From other posts, I gathered that speed sensor needed replacement and I ordered new one. Tranny is manual 5-speed and I pulled air box to find a sensor on top of trans. case. Problem is that sensor I am looking at in vehicle has 2 "holes" for terminals/pins and is oval shaped. Replacement I received (genuine OEM #96420 2D501) is only one that is listed anywhere online, and has 3 terminals/pins triangular shaped.

Either I am looking at the wrong sensor in vehicle- if so, please give exact location and how to remove it- or, I have the wrong part- if so, please advise correct part # for 01 tiburon, 5-speed manual, 2.0L DOHC engine.

I had the correct part, but looking at wrong sensor. Speed sensor is at rear, lower part of engine compartment directly down under throttle body and on top of tranny. I removed airbox and air ducts and replaced in about 10 mins.
