hi so i just bought hyundai tiburon and d car is kind of loud i need new flexpipe is that bad for the gas mileage too because i am getting 20 mil/galon in the city and the car is not so fast.is the oxygen sensor afect the gas mileage and my chec engine light comes somethimes.

Hi Simeon,

It would help if you would list what year and model your Tiburon is firstly - four cylinder or V6 for example.

However, a flex pipe is not going to harm your mileage. I would suggest getting an actual exhaust system put in if you can afford it as you are much better off that way.

Also, Hyundai has specific polution controls on all of their cars. Your light may be coming on for many reasons but I would first check to see if your gas cap is bad or you are not tightening it enough. This affects your mileage. Your Tibby creates a suction build up in your tank and if you dont make your cap click at least three times you may be losing that suction. Your Tibby's computer knows there is a lack of pressure and your engine light comes on as well as it affecting your mileage.

I have a 2006 Tiburon SE that has the V6. I get about 23-25 city and 28-30 highway for mileage. If you follow the above suggestion and you dont see improvement then there is another issue.

i am sorry that i didn't say what kind of hyundai is.
so i got the 1998 fx 2.0 engine and i get 18 mil\g in the city i replaced the flex pipe and oxygen sensor but stil look that i will get about 18-19 and the car when i slaw down on a stop let say because i dont stop and when i push the gas the car is not that fust on 2 gear and not only when i dont push the gas hard the car don't go so fast.

You really need to find out what the Check Engine Light code number is. It might point to a specific sensor that's giving bad readings and replacing that sensor will improve things.

i don't have the check engine light any more but before was P1613 in autozone said that that's MIL but they don't know what is that.

does it metter for the white whiers which one goes whith which one for the oxigen sensor because there are 2 white ones and 1 grey and 1 black so i did the black and the grey one but i don't know if the white one meteers
