too lean or rich???

my 2000 auto tibby is either running too lean or rich. when i hit the throttle it puts out a bunch of black smoke out the exhaust. i have no idea how to change that on this car so help please..

It's probably a bad sensor. Are you getting any Check Engine Lights? If so, find out what the CEL codes are; that should help you figure it out.
