So I've not long bought my Hyundai Tiburon 2002 GK 4 cylinder and I knew it was gonna be a project car and needed some work. I've discover an oil leak that is streaming onto my exhaust coming from the rocker cover area - took it to my local mechanic and he said replace the valve cover, go figure.
Anyway, I cant for the life of me find ANY valve covers for a 2002 tibby - I was wondering if a 2003 valve cover would fit? My tib was produced in January 2002 and I cant find anywhere on the net th difference between the engines.
Please help! I'd love to get it back on the road again soon 😊
Before going off the deep end, should verify just where and why the cover is leaking.
If no definite hole or crack can be found , it might only be necessary to remove the cover clean the cover and the surface the cover seals against. removing as much oil as possible and if the cover uses a gasket , replace the gasket . If it uses RTV a gasket maker, once cleaned apply a strip of RTV around the sealing surface of the cover, and install the cover . Don't over tighten the screws that hold the cover in place. Wait an hour or two for the RTV to set a little then you can start the engine and make sure there are no leaks.
