2005 Hyundai Tucson jerky acceleration issue
 

After a very cold snap around my area (-30 degree low's) my Tucson has had problems accelerating after spending a night outside. It jerks quite a lot as if you were pumping the throttle aggressively becoming harder jerks when on heavy throttle. It seems to be apparent mostly on 1st and 2nd gear and less on 3rd and 4th (my Tucson has the FWD 2.7L 4-speed auto) and happens weather the engine is cold or warmed up. The engine also sounds a little different and slightly lower on power at the high end revs or heavy throttle. On gears 3 and 4 there is little to no jerking but if I pump the throttle I can feel the power and rpm drop slightly after 1/3rd throttle and return when it comes back to 1/3rd throttle. No check engine light or any other warning indicator has shown up at all and I have no idea what the problem could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, just found this post because my vehicle, the exact same one as yours, did the exact same thing after this recent cold snap. I know it was over five years ago when you posted that, but I just was wondering if you had any luck figuring it out?

Would you know when the fuel filter was last replaced?

I do not. But after looking on some forums I remembered something the previous owner had told me and that was that the ducting between the throttle and the MAF sensor would sometimes come apart. I checked and sure enough it had. To me that made sense because the sensor wasn’t sensing all the air that was coming in so therefore the engine wasn’t getting enough fuel. It seemed to have fixed it so far. Thanks!
