2005 Tucson V6 low fuel warning light, and miles left
I've just acquired a 2005 Hyundai Tucson with the V6 engine. After driving it through three tanks of gas, right down to when the low fuel warning light comes on, my calculations keep indicating that, when this light comes on, I only have one gallon of fuel left (about 17 miles of driving)!!! Can this possibly be correct? Supposedly it is a 17.2 gallon tank and I've filled at a couple of different gas stations with the same alarming result. Heaven help me if I'm on an isolated stretch of road somewhere when the light comes on. Anyone got a comment on this?

My light comes on with approx 2.5 gal left in the tank.
However, here's a suggestion that may or may not work: get gas BEFORE THE LIGHT COMES ON. You know, look at the little fuel level gauge and when it gets to the 1/4 left mark start looking for a gas station. Running the tank dry is not good for the fuel pump. The fuel cools and lubricates the pump. Running it below 1/4 full is not a good idea.
