2011 Tucson 2.0

I got a 2011 Tucson 2.0 that didn’t want to start with the starter. I just put a new starter and a new battery in and it will just click. I know the car runs because I can put in in reverse and pop the clutch and it starts. Could the cable to the starter be bad? Thanks for any help

If you turn on the headlamps, do they lit up to the usual brightness? if so , good, then what do the headlights do when you go to start the engine?

If the lights do not show any change the could be a problem with the replacement starter.
If the headlamps go dim , there is a poor connection between the battery and it's connection to the engine and sheet meal.
A defective starter that pulls too much current will also cause the lights to go dimmer.

Getting back to the brightness of the headlamps, if they are not as bright as they should be, makes us wonder if the battery has enough charge to do it's job.
These checks take about 5 minutes to do . Let us know what you find, thanks.

Where you obtained the replacement starter could get into the picture.

turns out the cables at the battery needed to be cleaned, i guess they wernt letting enough power get to the starter. after cleaning it started right up!!
