2012 Tucson won't start because Alarm?
I've had some sporadic alarm issues with this car in the past where it will go off by simply opening up the car door when it's already unlocked. Using the unlock button on the key usually did the trick. This is a factory alarm btw, where it just goes off in random intervals.
I wasn't able to use the car for a few months and the battery drained. I went to charge it and the alarm immediately went off and using the key did nothing. The horn eventually died and then just went to clicking noises.
I did some research and tried a few things:
1: I cleaned the hood latch
2: I unhooked the battery for a day, then connected it, put a charge to it, and the clicking happened again. Should I try this again, but make sure my battery has been charged for a bit before doing it?
3: I tried cycling the key in the ignition by turning it to the on position, then off, 4 times, then tried to start it and nothing.
4. I used the remote unlock while sitting in the car with the doors closed.
5. I made sure the hood sensor was pushed down and it still went off.
A thing of note. I have 2 key remotes. One has 4 buttons, a unlock/lock, an alarm button, and a button with a key on it, but it appears to be dead, for it won't do anything. The other has 3 keys, unlock/lock and an alarm button. Could the one that doesn't work have anything to do with it?
The alarm was very sporadic. It would sometimes stop for a few secs, then pick back up. It would sometimes stop and stay stopped. If I opened the door it would go off, then sometimes it would stay off, but still nothing. I'm not car savvy, so I'm not sure what else I can try. Clearly, it's not starting because of the alarm, so I'd like to see if there is any other suggestions out there. Thank you.
