Crank sensor

My 2005 Tuscon with 81,000 miles has been flawless, until this morning when it just plain quit (the engine light also came on). After getting it towed, the dealer diagnosed a faulty crank sensor, and it'll cost me $280.00. To my surprise the crank sensor is not covered by my 100,000 mile power train warranty. How can this be? How is the crank or crank sensor not part of the power train? The 100,000 mile warranty was really emphasized by the dealer when I bought the vehicle. It was a huge selling point. The service tech is now admitting to me the that the 100,000 warranty is actually pretty limited. I feel completely duped. I love this car, and I've loved the brand, but this just doesn't feel right.

Check you manual, the sensors are not covered by the 10y/100k mile warranty. That bacically just coveres the mechanical drivetrain, not the electrical.

In general it is oil related moving parts within the engine and transmission..

HPP contract will cover misc depending on which Plan you purchased..
