DIY: maintenance after buying a 2nd hand Hyndai Tucson City 2007

Hi,

I am new member to this forum.

Recently bought a 2007 Tucson City SX model.

I am now trying to get more involved regarding the maintenance of the car and did my own health check.

Things I found out:

1. engine oil - seems fine its between "F and L"

2. engine coolant:
- I open the lid and it seems almost empty (i think) and I see a bit of dirt (maybe corrosion) but the reservior is made of plastic (is this normal?).

I need to refill the engine coolant as it is advice that it should be between "L and F"

From manual:
---------------------
Use a high quality ethylene-glycol coolant in a
50/50 mix with water. The engine coolant should
be compatible with aluminum engine parts.
---------------------

- do I need to buy the collant from Hyundai ? or I can by the collant from any automotive shop?

- Does it mean that I need to put in 50% egine collant and 50% water on the collant reservior?

3. Radiator
- I notice that that the fluid is not on the radiator neck.
- I plan to fill up some water until i reach the radiator neck.

Question:
Can i used the normal tap water form the faucet? or do I need to buy distilled /demineralize water?

Itwas also mention on the manual to put in some engine coolant on the radiator?

4. Washer reservior
- I open the lid and i don't see any washer liquid as far as I can see.
Should I be able to see the washer fluid when you open the lid?

- If I need to refill the windshield washer fluid, can i just use the normal tap water from the faucet?

I read the maintenance guide and it mention about washer fluid agent which contains alcohol.

do I really need to by the washer fluid or can i just use the normal tap water from faucet?

5. Break fluid
- it is between "min and Max" so i think it should be fine

6. Clutch fluid
- between "min and max" - so should be fine

7. Battery
- no corrosion and looks clean

8. Power steering fluid
- between "min and max" so should be fine

Thanks for your inputs.....

regards,
-chino
