Heater not turning on when using remote starter on 2012 Hyundai Tucson Limited

I just got a 2012 Hyundai Tucson Limited, with the factory installed remote starter. When I use the remote starter to start the vehicle, and enter, the heater is not on, and the panel that shows that temperate/mode of the heater is not illuminated and does not display anything. I have tried setting it to auto or manual, and it doesn't make a difference. Once I insert the key and press down on the brake, the panel becomes illuminated and the heater turns on. This cannot possibly be normal, can it? This would defeat the main purpose of having the remote starter.

Actually, I have to insert the key and turn it to the first position. Then, the heater turns on.

Not sure. Sounds wrong to me too. Take it back to the dealer and see what they say.
