hyundai tucson 2.0 crdi yr 2006 doesn't start
hi everybody
well i own a hyundai tucson 2.0 crdi yr 2006 83 kw AT 2WD engine D4EA JM model my problem is i accidentally broke the fuel rail pressure sensor. i bought a new one and replace it. the reference number on the new sensor (0281002909) isn't same as the original one (0281002788) . however, the vehicle doesn't start the glow plug light remains on permanently and the engine check light doesn't turn on at all even on ignition the last diagnostic said no fault detected in the ecu and the fuel pressure sensor showed 1.8 bar on ignition and stood fix even when i crank the vehicle. however vehicle still doesn't start. now some say it might be the sensor and some say it might be a ground problem. is there anybody who could please help me on this thanks and regards kaviraj |
You did not mention if you checked all the fuses.
There is usually a timer to control the glow plug on time. If the glow plug relay is not working , the glow plugs will not get any power to work. I don't know what equip you have to use, but in this case a test light would help. If you don't mind my asking , how did you manage to "alter" the fuel pressure sensor, If that is what it is ? |

thank you for your response well i checked all the fuses and they are good will try to check the relay with a test light can you indicate which relay it is and where is it found please well when my sensor broke i looked for a new one on ebay as there was not any available locally and the seller told me that the sensor with reference (0281002788) had been discontinued and proposed me one with reference 0281002929 and said its the replacement for the original one and that it is fully compatible and interchangeable, so i bought it from him. |
If for any reason the wrong parts were installed,,, in this case maybe, ,,,, that complicates the problem, because we could now have two problems.
With a diesel there is no quick fix of anything. They all need air and they all need fuel. A plugged air filter is on the air problem side and Fuel pump, injection pump,lines to the injectors and injectors themselves are on the fuel side. If either one is inadequate or missing the engine will not run or even start. A cold diesel uses "Glow plugs to heat the incoming air so the fuel will ignite easier under compression. Some diesels will not start if cold enough if the glow plug system is not functioning properly. So you can see why there is no quick fix. All these conditions must be met for the engine to start. There are some things we use to confirm if fuel is missing, but the safest way is to just loosen one of the injector lines and see if any fuel comes out under pressure WHEN CRANKING THE ENGINE OVER. No fuel, no start, that simple. An air problem usually lets you know early with low power and plenty of black smoke from the exhaust.. The glow plug system is not that complicated, but you need to know what you are dealing with and IF YOUR ENGINE HAS GLOW PLUGS ,THE USE OF STARTING FLUID CAN CAUSE SOME PRETTY HEAVY DAMAGE ,SO YOU SHOULD NOT USE STARTING FLUID ON ANY DIESEL WITH WORKING GLOW PLUGS. If the glow plugs are working the starting fluid will explode in the intake system and blow some components apart !! Now you have some idea what you might try. |
