Smoking 2005 Hyundai Tucson

Smoking 2005 Hyundai Tucson
I have a 2005 Hyundai Tucson (2.7 liter, V-6 engine, no turbo-charger and 2-wheel drive) with just under 130,000 miles that smokes on startup most mornings - a lot of smoke. The cloud of smoke is dense and can be one to two times the size of the car. It happens most mornings and persists less than a minute. However, some mornings (very few), there is very little smoke. It rarely smokes on start-up at the end of my work day (after sitting about 8 hours). It is after it sits overnight (about 14 hours) that it smokes the most.
I have the oil and filter changed regularly on schedule and use standard 10W-40 oil. I have to add a quart every 1,000-1,200 miles but it uses no coolant whatsoever. I drive it to work 5 days a week (part city/part highway) which is approximately 40 miles round trip. This smoking started about a year ago and originally the car smoked less frequently (1 or 2 mornings a week) and the cloud of smoke was much smaller. It has just gradually gotten worse until it got to the point it is now. Other than the smoke, the car runs fine.
Has anyone had similar smoking problems and does anyone have any ideas on what to do about it?
