NEED HELP: Brake Problem: Can't Bleed 2005 Tucson
Car: 2005 Tucson 6 cyl 2WD
Problem: Took front brake calipers off to replace. Only was able to get a new right one at the moment. Installed it and the old left. Went to bleed brakes but am getting no pedal. Tried pedal bleeding and a vacuum gun. Nothing. Getting a flow from both sides. No air.
Thought maybe air got into the ABS unit. Guys online were talking about slamming brakes on gravel to purge the ABS. Desperate so tried that. Nothing. Tracked down a scan tool to borrow and ran ABS AIR BLEED with the scan tool. Valves cycled. Nothing.
Just installed a new Master Cylinder. Nothing. Not sure what else to do. Dealer wants $2,100 for new ABS w/o labor. Basically what the car is worth. Might be able to get lucky and get one at a junkyard and install myself, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Some questions,
Did you bench bleed the replacement master before you installed and connected the lines? If not, you just blew air into the ABS unit and will need the scan tool to cycle the solenoids in order to get the air out.
You might start with bleeding the rears first then going to the furthest front and closest last for bleeding.
To help verrfy, you might try clamping different hoses to see if you can pin down the area with the air in the lines.

I had the same problem a few years back (my 2005 finally died last week). I took it to my local mechanic and he said it needed a new master cylinder...took it to my local Canadian Tire Auto shop(not sure where you live) they ran it on their vacuum bleeder and and ran the abs bleed on the scan tool and it worked.
Their vacuum pump was pretty massive.
If you are in Canada try them. I just looked and your profile says you are in the US. I suggest calling one of the Canadian Tire dealers and asking to talk to a mechanic. They are usually helpful and can tell you what they use (especially if you explain you are in the US).
