Default Particulate filters !

2021 hyundai tucson 1.6 petrol

Ive had my Tucson for 2 years now on the Motability scheme and I love it, soon I have to decide what my next car will be and simply because of one thing it wont be another Tucson, the particulate filter warning light !

In the 2 years Ive owned it this light has been on 4 times, ive been told 3 different ways to regenerate it but its only worked once, so now its booked in again.

I am disabled, they obviously knew that when I got the car but said nothing, now they say I dont do enough miles. Ok so I've only done 8000 miles in 2 years but a lot of those miles have been on 60+ mile trips but this thing refuses to regenerate. I dont drive slow either but I stick to the speed limit which is often 70mph. I dont know what else to do.

So far I have tried..... driving at 3-4000 rpm in 4th gear for as long as possible.....then I tried driving in sport mode in 4th gear .....then I tried 3rd gear at 4000 rpm then throttling off for 5 seconds then sharply back to 4000 rpm.....lastly I spent a whole afternoon alternating between the 3 ways and covered 80 miles.

Is this a fault with my car ? if its normal then I will look elsewhere for my next car. if its a fault they need to be honest with me !

Do you know if your vehicle requires DEF to help keep the regen system working?

Some later year diesels have an emission system to keep certain air pollutants down to acceptable limits.
The systems with regeneration generally require "Diesel Exhaust Fluid" (DEF) to help accomplish that. If the fluid is not added to the special container for that purpose the system plugs up quickly requiring frequent regeneration. If not followed, some systems will incorporate a power loss to insure the maintenance is followed.
