hi got a tucson 2.0 cdti 54 plate and when you start it first thing in morning the brake pedal is hard and you put it into drive and it moves with brake pedal still pressed as you drive off the hand brake loght is still on then pedal will go normal and light goes out , been told it is pump thing on back of alternator dont know what this pump is called any help to this prob would be helpful thanks

We don't get diesel-equipped Tucsons here in the U.S. so I don't have an exact answer for you. But because diesel engines don't produce a vacuum, diesel-equipped cars have to use a separate vacuum pump. It's my understanding that the diesel-equipped Tucsons use a different alternator with a built in vacuum pump to operate the power brakes. What I don't know is if the pump portion can be repaired, replaced or if you need a whole new alternator.

That black box on the back is the alternator is the vacuum pump. It looks like it can be unbolted and replaced.

would this cause hard brake then it will go back to normal
