Tuscon 1.6L DCT Problems
Hi, new to this forum & needed some info..I am looking at the 2017 Tuscon but have heard about ALOT of issues people have had with the Turbo 1.6 cause of the dct problems, have these been fixed in the 2017 models or is it safer to go with the 2.0 6speed automatic instead?
Thanks for any info you can give me! |
If it were me then I would go with proven technology until they finally fix those things.
And you got to remember that those new transmissions are good until they stop working then it cost a mint to fix or replace them. Because it is new tech, the cost for fix and/or replace is very high Probably won't go down until after a few more years |

The DCT are wonderful if you drive high performance .. all the time
But, in traffic, they wear and break down because they are dry clutch And they can't handle stop and go traffic (clutch slip) well. Regular transmission can handle traffic because it has a torque converter to handle clutch slip The DCT gets better MPG But standard transmission don't cost an arm and leg to fix And probably last longer in an urban environment |

I don't know what to say about that.

I know if I bought another Tuscon it would NOT have the dual clutch! They do not have this perfected yet. Stick with the torque converter it is proven and reliable.

2017 Tuscon 1.6 DCT problem
Hi
Our Tuscon has all the lagging issues when accelerating from a stop, quite dangerous when pulling out into traffic, was just about t boned once. It has also stalled upon accelerating a few times. Then we had what I thought was a exhaust leak, but were told by Hyundai Canada that all Tucson sound that way. The interior of the car stunk if you were stopped and idling, to the point my daughter in law removed my granddaughter from the vehicle. Again back to Hyundai and we made the service dept sit in the car. Yup they took it back into the shop and opened the clutch housing. Metal in it, full clutch replacement at 42000km. That was a few months ago and we are starting again with the same symtoms. Lagging acceleration in all modes. Is there no fix other than constantly having to replace the clutch in a 2year old vehicle????? Oh the loud start up, so loud people turn their heads when we start it up, is due to, as Hyundai Canada says, that there is no oil in the pistons on ignition. HELP |
