Heat on one side, cold on the other
 

Just bought a 2008 Veracruz last night. Pulled off the dealer lot at 6:15. We drove 3 hours to buy this car. 10 min out of town we start to notice the driver side is putting out nice hot air but the passenger side is cold to luke warm. The dealer locked the door behind us because they closed at 5 but it took awhile to wrap up the deal. Today we messed with the controls because there are lots of new bells and wistles on this SUV so we thought maybe we are doing something wrong?? Read the manual but it still seems that it's just not right. Drivers side gets plenty hot and passenger side blows cold to a tad warm? any suggestions as to what I can check?? Jim

Does it have dual zone HVAC? Many Veracruz do and you just may need to raise the passenger side temp.

Look at your HVAC controls and your owners manual. Does it have controls like on page 4-48 or like on page 4-96?

sorry bout that. It does have dual zone heat and air but the digital read out will go from like 85 down to 60? but the air temp doesn't change. in other words, if the dual button is on or off, the temp of the air coming out on the passenger side remains cold. Also, when the heat is on the side windows fog up pretty bad. The windsheild does not fog up and there is no Antifreeze smell at all. The floor mats are dry. I've had a car or two with a leaking heater core, but I don't think this one is leaking?? not positive though.... Putting it in defrost mode will clear the windows in 10 seconds. thanks

No error codes when i scanned with my little Autozone OBDII scanner. Also, both heater core hoses feel the same temp from in the engine compartment. Please help

Then there is probably a problem with the heat control doors in the heater box. I'd suggest going to a mechanic to have that looked at. It's not like the old system with a wire that moved the doors.

FYI, In case anyone would have this issue. It was the actuator door motor. It's up behind the glove box. Took me 20 min to replace. Dealer charges $300 for part and labor. I bought the actuator off e bay for $40 and found a nice write up for the Hyundai Sonata that showed good pics and explained how to replace it.
