puddle splash causes short/cutoff

2007 Veracruz. When I go through large puddles or standing water the electrical cuts off. All the dash lights come on and I lose power steering. In a second or two it comes back on. Last thing is the seat belt indicator flashes as if I had just started the car. But it goes off like it normally would after two or three seconds. Seems to happen when the standing water is on the passenger side but that could be my imagination.

Have I got loose connections? Grounds to check? Any electrical connection points on the right side I should check?

Thanks

I was driving a Tucson up hill in six inches of snow and the same thing happened. The dash lit up like a Christmas tree and I was not about to stop and get stuck there, so I kept driving and all went back to normal. I still don't know why this happened ant it never happened again.
