Default 2003 xg350l

I own an XG350L that apparently needs a new AC compressor. I was wondering how difficult it is to do this repair myself and where i can find directions. Any help would be greatly appreciated since Iam low on funds and can't afford to have a mechanic fix it.

Thanks

Repairing the A/C requires special tools and equipment to fill the system with refrigerant. You can probably replace the compressor yourself but recharging the system will probably require going to a mechanic anyway. I'd suggest just letting the mechanics do it all unless you have the knowledge and tools.

Interestingly enough my mechanic offered to handle the refrigerant for me if I want to change the compressor myself to save on labor. Since that is the case how hard is it to change that compressor?

What is the likelihood that the belt will snap if I do not repair the AC compressor right away? I understand that this belt also drives the alternator.

Default Can you bypass the AC compressor on a 2003 XG350L

Well, the belt went ahead and broke on the AC compressor on my 2003 XG350L. I was wondering if the AC compressor can be bypassed until I have enough money to buy a new one?
