Cig Lighter Fuse Keeps Going Out

Cig Lighter Fuse Keeps Going Out
Hi,
I got a GPS system that hooks into the ciggerate lighter for power. It worked fine for one day but the next day wouldn't. I checked and sure enough the fuse was blown. Put another one in and it worked. Until today.
Any ideas on why this is the case? The GPS works fine in several other family member's cars without causing any fuse damage.
BY THE WAY, I also hooked up my new radar detector and the same thing happened. Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.

RE: Cig Lighter Fuse Keeps Going Out
There are three things on that circuit, which is protected by a 20 amp fuse: The cigarette lighter, the front accessory outlet and the rear accessory outlet. If you have things in all three locations that add up to more than 20 amps, then that will blow the fuse. If the only thing you are plugging in is the GPS, make sure it takes less than 20 amps (I would think it would), and if you still have the cigarette lighter itself plugged in somewhere, try unplugging it.

RE: Cig Lighter Fuse Keeps Going Out
My wife is having the same type problem with her XG350L in that all the power outlets no longer work. I have taken a stab at trying to figure out which fuse is linked to the cigarette lighter/power outlets, but believe I failed can you tell me which fuse it was that kept blowing?
Thanks
Thanks

RE: Cig Lighter Fuse Keeps Going Out
Thank you for the response, I did not realize that there were TWO fuse boxes in the XG350L When I read the owners manual I only saw the one in the Engine compartment, which is why I was so frustrated trying to find the correct fuse there[:@]. Thanks to your message, and a little more investigation on my part, I finally found the fuse box on the inside of the car (I don't know why it was not listed in the owners manual before the engine compartment box and/or why they were not listed on the same page) and it was fuse #15 that was blown.
Thanks again for the quick response, it save me some grief with the wife
