Good car?
 

I just bought a 2004 XG350 after test driving it. I chose it over a 2000 Mercedes E320...the benz was a couple thousand more.

The XG has 166,000 miles on it and I was wondering a few things about the 3.5 liter. Are they good engines? Secondly, what is the maintenance interval on the timing belt and are these 3.5 liters engines interference or non-interference if the timing belt breaks?

The car is in great shape and the interior is pretty clean...I give it about an 8.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. There are a few things I need to address.

1) the passenger button for the heated seat needs to be cleaned or replaced as it sticks a bit (looks like someone spilled a sugary drink and didn't clean it up very well).

2) Missing knob off the drivers side backrest adjustment switch.

On the outside the exterior has been well cared for. It looks like the car has been garaged the last six years.

I am planning on changing the H7 Halogen bulbs for an H7 HID light which it looks like some of the non-US versions come with HID lights from what I can tell.

I really enjoyed the two test drives i had in this car and I was surprised at how much punch the 3.5 liter has. Cruising at 70 mph with the cruise on, the car is as smooth as glass.

Looking forward to some road trips in this car.

Welcome! My 2005 says it should be changed at 60,000 miles and yes, if you don't, you risk bad things happening when the Timing Belt breaks! :eek: Maybe someone else with an '04 will jump in here. Enjoy the car!
