2000 Accent GL, Got it for free...
 

I'm new here, I've always been a lifted 4x4 owner. Now that I have to commute, my truck is killing me on gas. I was given a 2000 accent gl automatic with almost 199,000 on it. It runs pretty rough. I hear that these cars are pretty sweet with a little love. It has the 1.5 sohc, but when I stomp the pedal to the floor it seems to hesistate for a few seconds, then proceeds to wrap up to about 4k and shifts. It idles rough. Rough enough to shake the whole car. It shifts hard, and pisses oil like nobody's business....I was wondering where should I start with the repairs? I'm a student and I'd love to fix it to save gas but I don't even know where to start. Any help is appreciated
