Air recirculation button
I have a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. My air recirculation button only stays on for about 3 minutes, and I didn't have this problem until I had my actuator replaced in May 2023.. However, the dealership keeps telling me that this is the way it's supposed to work. If someone knows a way to disconnect this function of automatically turning off if and when it gets to a certain temperature or whatever the case may be, please share that with me. I do not care to breathe in the exhaust from outside or to keep pressing the button every three minutes. Please share any steps that I can take to turn this function off. I will just do it myself.
If the actuator was recently replaced, it might be malfunctioning or incorrectly installed. Check if it’s properly connected and functioning. You might need to have it inspected or replaced again if it’s faulty.
If you’re comfortable working on your car, you could manually disconnect the recirculation feature. However, this is not recommended without proper knowledge, as it might affect other systems. To disconnect it, locate the air recirculation actuator. It’s typically found behind the dashboard, near the climate control system. Disconnect the wiring harness connected to the actuator. This will disable the automatic recirculation feature but may require reassembly or reconfiguration of the climate control system.
