Hey Equus

There is also another forum that is extremely active. You may want to register at that site as well.

Link is: http://www.tucsonforum.net/

BTW, this is the first time I am buying a Hyundai (Elite V6 Automatic). I have heard that their engines are excellent and reliable - is this true?

The other question is how is the transmission on the Tucson,I have heard mixed reports about the transmission on the Santa FE . Is the Tucson using an identical transmission box or is it a more improved transmission? What are your thoughts on the selectronic transmission?

Yes I am a member of that forum too... regarding the engine on Tucson...it is very smooth, has a steady torque curve increase as the intake manifold is modified and is called Variable Intake System.....as far as the Transmission, it is a Four Speed derivative from Sonata and is also currently used in the Elantra....the Selectronic Trans is just fine...honestly there are some people who like to gripe about anything and everything in the world...there is no such a thing as a perfect automobile in the world....that said people forget that we are still a very YOUNG company and have tremendously improved the Quality on the vehicles we produce and have come upto spot two in IQ....Santa Fe does not have the kind of concerns some people are talking about...it all comes down to lack of reading the Owners Manual and lack of Maintenance....I do recommend you to buy the Elite...I have already racked up 50K miles on my demo and have had ZERO problems...
