Hello there
 

My name is Richard. I just bought a 2004 Santa Fe GLS FWD. I look forward to learning from the community, and eventually contributing to the knowledge here.

By trade, I'm a semi-retired Web developer and all-around geek. My original training was in aviation maintenance, avionics, and that sort of thing. I eventually branched off into computer repair, and then Web design; so I have some feel for things mechanical and electrical.

This is my first Hyundai. It replaces its cousin, a 2000 Kia Sportage that I bought four years ago for about $1,850.00 and sold today for $1000.00. Not bad: Four years of driving for $850.00 -- even considering that it needed a new gas tank and other miscellaneous old-car repairs.

My general happiness with the Kia is part of the reason I bought the Hyundai. It spoke well of Korean vehicle quality. I haven't driven my Hyundai since buying it because I have to go down to the DMV and register it tomorrow. I hate to admit it, but I can hardly wait. (I did test drive, her, of course.)

I live in the boondocks in Upstate New York, on a hill, hence my handle. I'm not far from the Middle of Nowhere. I'm not exactly in the Middle, but you can walk there from here.

Other car-wise, I also have a 2001 Saturn SC1 with a bit over 185,000 miles behind her. She gets about 30 MPG, so she'll still see some use, for sure.

I have a few questions that I'll post if I can't find the answers by searching for them. Thanks in advance to all the brains I plan to pick.
