Question 2012 Accent shocks & strut replacement

Hi There
I am a new member and bought my son a 2012 Accent GLS. It has developed Tire noise which i have been told is due to worn shocks and struts, so i want to replace them, and my question is, Do i need to replace the Springs on the rear too or just the rear shocks? I will be replacing the front assemblies too, but they include the springs anyway.
Thanks in advance.

Before jumping into anything , can we ask just what kind of noise are you hearing ?

Shocks when on their way out will allow flat spots to develop on the road surface of the tire. Do they show that symptom?
The springs when weak will allow a lot of bounce and the vehicle has a tendency to sag some.
Most of the time tire noise is from the tires, but could be from a worn wheel /hub bearing . So good idea to confirm before spending a lot of $$$ that may not get rid of the problem.

Who told you to replace the struts due to road noise?
Was it a repair shop that sells tires???
Struts only reduce the up and down bounce from an uneven road
It allows the wheels to move independent of the body of the vehicle
So, test the struts by bouncing the car. On each corner of the car, push down on the vehicle.
If it bounces more than one and a half times then replace.
Otherwise, check to see if there is any oil or fluid leak
If all good then struts are fine.
Have you thought about just replacing the tires if worn??

If you are bent on replacing the struts, ...
The rear springs usually don't need replacing unless they are worn and do not provide enough of the original lift
Remember orientation of the struts may be important. Also, you will need a wheel alignment afterwards.
