Hello from your new moderator

Hi everyone, my name is Paul, but I'mknown on several forums as Doohickie. I've been recently asked to become a moderator for the site, and I accepted.

Mostly people are polite and courteous here; there are a few differences of opinion, but things are pretty civil. The reason I accepted the job of moderator is that I think this is a growing forum community, but the one thing that seems to irk me and other frequent posters to this forum is SPAM. So if I see posts that look like SPAM, I now have the power to delete them. At least to begin with, I will send a detailed explanation to anyone who's post I remove, with clear reasons why I removed it. If you disagree with my assessment, feel free to tell me your side. I like to think I have an open mind, and besides, although I'm active on several other forums, this is the first time I'm serving as a moderator.

So play nice, ask any questions you have about Hyundais, and we'll try to help each other find the answers. If you see something that needs my attention, PM or email me through my profile (if you PM me and don't hear back, send an email).

So you can put a face with the name, here I am with my 2005 Elantra 5-door:

Since that picture was taken, I've added fog lights, tinted the windows, and done several other mods. And that kind of reminds me... maybe we should start some threads showing off our cars!

RE: Hello from your new moderator

Some more about my car:

My car, the Red Rocket, is a 2005 Elantra GLS 5-door. I have made several mods, trying to use as many Hyundai corporation parts as possible to keep the OEM feel. So for my rims, I got a set of Elantra GTs, the sway bar is from the Tibby, as are both the subwoofer and the amp that drives it. The strut bar is from the Kia Spectra. This car and all its parts, to the greatest extent, are Made in Korea. One unique mod is a storage tray I built the fits under the cargo area floor, keeping the cargo area clean while carrying around tools and such.

RE: Hello from your new moderator

I got a leather GT steering wheel and installed it last week, so my interior looks just a bit different:

Hey Doohickie, Mechanic98 aka Ron here... just wanted to say that I like your elantra. Looks pretty nice... As I too support your anti-Spam montra... I hate those things... thats why we have a sellers column, so they can pay for advertisement... My fiance' and myself, just purchased a 2002 Accent.. liking it so far, havn't gotten any pics yet... but, working on it... its been rainy here, and trying to get a good pic of it :D You will see me around. Have a good day.

Cool!

As far as the SPAM goes, I'm letting sleeping dogs lie. If it was there before I was a moderator, I don't bother to delete it unless it pops into the new posts column because someone responds to it.

RE: Hello from your new moderator

A few changes (modding is NEVER complete!)

First, I replaced the city lights (parking lights) in the headlamps with LEDs which give a bluish look when the headlights are off:

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ture011a-2.jpg

Then just today I removed the amber lenses from the turn signals in front and put in Silverstar blinker bulbs:

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...icture035a.jpg

Andwhile I was working on the headlights the doorbell rang and my new removeable rear strut barwas delivered from GonzoSport:

It's the only rear strut bar I'm aware of that's removeable- back off the thumbscrews and Ican take the bar out which is handy if I wantto carry something big in my hatch. The rest of the time the bar reduces body flex for moreprecise handling.

Hello,
forgive me if I am in the wrong spot asking this question. I have only used this once before .
I have a clock question. I am just nowgetting around to changing the time on my clock in my 2005 accent
. I depress the buttons for H M R and nothing happens. A new radio was installed a few months ago and could they have disconnected something . I used the point ofa pen and pressed it in but nothing happens. The clock is running andshows the time.. Any idea's what it is.
Thank You
