I am new to this forum. I have a 1999 Hyundai Atos 1.0L automatic transmission. I live in barbados. I am having trouble with the transmission, it would not change into the higher gear. It keep ringing out in the low gear. I went to the local dealers but problem still presists. Anyone with any ideas of the problem feel free to offer me any suggestion.

What's the mileage on the vehicle? When was the fluid changed last?
I hate to say it but with an engine that small (1.0L) I can imagine that the transmission has had quite a workout! I'm not overly familiar with the Atos. Over here GM had a car named the Geo with a 1.0L 3 cylinder engine and it only came with a 5 speed manual and weighed less than 1800lbs.It was a notable performer around town but the engine ran out of breath quickly on the highway.
