Now I can't make Hyundai jokes anymore!
Hello forum members. I'm moving one of my auto forum residences to HF, since my beautiful Galant LS is now an accordion. I wasn't sure I could ever possibly find a car as nice as what I had before the wreck, for the money I could pay. Hyundai had never occurred to me until a salesman at Carmax put me in an Azera Limited with black leather, seat heaters, and you know the rest. That was out of my price league, but as I trudged through the process of comparing cars, I kept coming back to the Sonata. I ended up with a 2007 SE with the power package. It had everything I wanted; sunroof, power seat, V6, 6 CD changer, automatic dimming mirror, etc. The only thing I had to give up was the leather, but I really like the sand colored fabric with the woven pattern. It has no stains or burns, just some scratches on the silver plate surrounding the shifter. I think the paint color is called Deep Water Blue and it's really beautiful in the sunlight with its sparkling metal flake.
I bought it from a Hyundai dealer with 34,000 miles on it. It had been a rental for its first year and a half. It runs great and tracks perfectly straight. The only thing that worries me is that it lived in Ohio, but it looks like it's under-coated and I can't see any rust except for a few bolts on the engine. I plan to clean and detail under the hood tomorrow, so I'll get a better look. The aluminum engine is covered with a dusty white powder, which I guess is some oxidized aluminum. I hope it will clean right up. I'd appreciate any advice I can get on that from other HF members.
The sticker price was $15,999, but I ended up paying $14,300.
That about sums it up, but I'd like to know if, by my description, y'all think I got a good car.
