Problem with Hyundai Elantra

I'm looking for any help in trying to figure out what is wrong with my 1998 Hyundai Elantra...the problem is when the car is idling it seems like it wants to stall out. I've replaced the throttle sensor, gave it a tune-up, but the proble is still there...I'm thinking it could be the mass air flow sensor, but not quite sure? Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

Well sounds like you have done some work already... Its hard to figure it out... For the MAF Sensor, you can go to advance auto or autozone and get a spray cleaner that is designed only for this... its like 5 bucks or so... but, you spray it into the sensor and it cleans the little sensor probes on the inside. Not sure if this will work, but, worth a try.. can't hurt. It could also be a clogged catalytic converter. Kinda an expensive part, and its really hard to check, it actually has to be taken off to be checked... just a big hassle if thats what is wrong. Um... sounds like you already did the plugs etc... have you put in some fuel injector cleaner?

Just trying to think of different things.... to give you an idea... Hope this helps a little. If not, could give you a few ideas. Good Luck

One of the other parts that causes this type of problem is called the Idle Air Control..call your parts store and see if they can tell you more about it:

Oh.... one other thing: On my new Elantra, the battery was week from day one, and it gave me the symptoms you're talking about. I replaced the battery (under warranty in my ase) and the car has run fine since.
