Excel 95 auto - gear shifts problem
 

my excel is automatic 4speed and recently it has been experiencing some shifting difficulties.

basicaly when it goes from 2nd to 3rd there is a brief peried in between where it seem to stay in nuetral. it revs high then locks into third. its okay on all other gear shifts but 3rd. any advice will be much welcome.

When was the last time you changed the transmission fluid?

I bought the car about 2 months ago and have not yet changed the tranny fluid. it's been level the whole time and no leakage. i'm not to familiar with the insides of transmissions, basically changing the filter is the extent of my experience.

Everyone makes the mistake of never changing the transmission fluid. Cars like Chevys and Volkswagon don't even come with a dipstick anymore. Be advised that the car companies want you to buy a new car every five years. Since you have no idea what's going on in your car, I would recommend a complete fluid change.
