Default battery light not charging

Hi I have a Hyundai excel 98 I went to start it and battery was flat its manual so I was push started... then while I was driving I lost power hubby came and we charged the battery enough to get home.
There is no battery light on dash and alternator seems fine is this a common problem? was hoping if someone has had this too they may be able to help.
The battery light on the dash is not working either (no power there it seems)
Also all fuses are fine.

First thing to do is to stop guessing what the problem is and start testing
Check all the fuses (again, yes again)
Clean battery terminals and connectors
Clean battery cable and the ground connection to the car body. Clean as necessary.
Get yourself a DVOM or multi-meter and measure the voltage across the battery terminals
Both when the engine is not running and when it is running
With engine off, the voltage should read about 12.5 volts
If not then take car to auto parts store and have them check the battery
Most parts stores will do this for free
Check with store personnel before having them do it
Then, with engine running, the measured voltage across the terminal should read between 13.5 volts to 14.5 volts.
If voltage is too low then inspect the cables. Make sure everything is tight.
If everything else is okay then replace alternator
